They played coed so they could show off there skills for girls i would guess. And if you are a best boy then prove it by playing against other boys. If Mulsteff played boys a few years back they could have won countys maybe. Now the kid has tremendous skills dont get me wrong, but just the fact that he played against girls made it seem like he was unstoppable, on the boys side it could have been other wise. And we will never know because these "best" players play against girls so we won't know if they are hot stuff or not.

I dont know what youre talking about with this "they're playing girls" most of those girls are great passers and there are some that even surpass some of the boys so i dont know what youre talking about when you say that

Mullsteff is a great player as was his brother (both played coed for 4 years). He now plays D1 at a major university. I believe it is Loyola of Chicago. Will Price played coed for 4 years at GBurg. He starts for Penn State and played the NCAA semi finals last night. Berzins is playing at Ohio State. Starting Libero. He played 2 years on Coed. Frankly, I would like to watch a match between the best boys from the boys teams against the best boy players from the Coed teams in the county. I think some underestimate the volleyball and athletic ability of all of these guys. I do agree even after all of this discussion that Coed Should be discontinued or dropped to a JV Status or the season moved and JV boys should be added to the spring season.

Why did Price, Mullsteff, & Gilchrist, the best recent players out of Montgomery county, play coed? It's more fun for the boys! LMAO i guess you like to show off ur "skills" on girls than. Whats wrong can't hit over boy blocks? I believe that Playing on Boys is way more fun than playing on co-ed. its more challenging. Well i guss u got ur own opinion There's no need to be 'flaming' in the forum; act your age. There are plenty of boys able to hit over boy's blocks in CoEd and there is a level of challenge on CoEd just as there is on Boys. There are other reasons why some boys choose not to play Boys. For example, teammates and coaches. Not every school is blessed to have a Coach willing and having the knowledge to build a volleyball program at that school. Also, not everyone likes their teammates(like those idiotic enough to go around flaming people). It doesn't mean boys on CoEd aren't good enough. Sorry to say it, but I know for a fact there are a lot of boys county wide that chose boys over coed and coed over boys because of teammates and coaches. CoEd is not a bad idea. It is a great way to spark up volleyball interest to Boys. It probably should not be a Varsity Sport though, but much rather developmental or Junior Varsity. Lastly, I think most CoEd players just want to have fun, and yeah, we have a lot more fun than Boys.

Don't try to tell me there aren't girls on CoEd better than boys on Boys, passing, hitting, setting and serving. 2. No one needs to prove anything to you. 3. Don't just 'guess' 4. Maybe you forgot, but there are boys on CoEd too; a lot that are just as good and a lot that are better than Boys players. I'm not even asking for CoEd boys to play in the All Boys game anymore cause the coaches' argument makes some sense. YOU, do not make any sense.

I have offered solutions to boys volleyball. I'm not talking "club" boys volleyball. Girls V/JV in Fall ... Boys V/JV in Spring. All players have same opportunity to better their skills and play. Coed is nice but it's a totally different sport. Montgomery County is the ONLY County in the State of MD that even offers volleyball - PERIOD. Anything is better than nothing. You can't compare boys vs. girls OR the reason boys want to play one or the other. Girls Fall JV/V... Boys Spring JV/V ... same opportunites for all.

As far as saying there are better boy players on coed. We dont know that for a fact ,do we? after all they aren't playing against each other so you can't say there are better boys on coed because thats not a fact, its just your opinion.

in this thread, the argument is not whether boys volleyball or coed is better. i personally play boys, but that is of my own decision. if the coed team was simply more talented, then i would play with coed, as the experience would be all the better.
although my post may be a bit hypocritical, i believe we should be discussing solutions to the coed v boys issue, not which one is better or which boys should play and shouldn't play.
and even moreso is that we shouldn't be having volleyball fans, players, etc. insulting one another.

Move the boy's season to fall and leave the coed in the spring. No boys or girls will need to choose one from another. Coed will also become a more complete sport itself to allow coed JVs.
