This does not represent the talent in mcps at all how there are not two players on north wood better than the third and fourth best players on WJ and Churchill. How about instead of trying to give representation to the bad teams follow the points list and give credit where credit is due to the players that are very talented but just are under the shadow of other players on their own team

Also if a player is injured it is not fair to other players to put them on first team especially when they aren’t better than the players they are put above. For example Nathan Goh missed 4 weeks and made first team. Don’t get me wrong he’s a talented player but he should be on second team or honorable mention he only has 33 points while Toby Clark was honorable mention with 35. So to sum it up this shouldn’t be a sympathy list for injured players and the point list should be followed

The points list is flawed too. There is no perfect system, especially since there is no longer a 3rd party (newspaper) that follows the sport. I think the points you brought up are valid for discussion during the next pre-season coaches' meeting.

'Harold', every coach in the County had a chance to stay after the Post Season meeting, to advocate for their players & attempt to select an All-County Team to give players some sort of recognition. Only 11 coaches chose to do so (w/an additional phoning in w/feedback on her players). With 25 schools/over 300 athletes to select from, ANY attempt @ an All-County Recognition team is going to draw criticism. However, to pick ONE kid to mention & criticize him is pathetic. For the record, Nathan missed 4 games, NOT 4 weeks & was instrumental in helping Clarksburg get tot he semi-final game. This fact WAS discussed among the coaches who stayed to select players. Some schools only played 10 games/not 11 during the regular season...some schools have easier schedules. This 'list' you speak of is for coaches eyes ONLY to be used as a 'tool' for selecting All-County (care to share which coach gave you the list? If you're a county coach, it makes your remarks even worse). Any suggestions are ideas (not criticism) would be appreciated. How about simply saying 'Congratulations' to ALL players recognized & move on.

The best way to avoid this controversy of who makes what could probably be avoided if the coaches meeting didn’t occur and the teams just were decided by the points list. Also, I mean no disrespect to Nathan he deserves first team but he deserves it if he had played a full season. And I am not a coach but if all coaches think this list is a good representation then there should be no problem with the points list being posted for the public to see

Also, I mean no disrespect to Nathan he deserves first team but he deserves it if he had played a full season. I think the best way to avoid a controversy is to avoid anonymously attacking a 14 year old. You write you mean no disrespect, but in my opinion by singling out one person you have done so. You had a chance to make an apology for that and apparently declined to do so. Having the beliefs that the selection process is flawed and that the voting list should be public (and used more) are valid opinions to hold and legitimate arguments to make. Perhaps in the future you can make these more generally without having to call out a freshman in high school.

First of all to say I am attacking Nathan is just wrong. And you say my points are valid but they have been brought up by many people in the past but nothing has been done to change the system. I’m just speaking as a player(btw I’m a sophomore) in this county addressing a flawed system.
