First ever MCPS vs. HCPS regular season match. Magruder wins in three despite struggling throughout parts of each game.
Thoughts on playing in Howard County?

Match analysis is now posted.
Enjoyed playing a new team. Just have to learn to pass those hard topspin jump serves!

Thoughts on playing in Howard County? Why travel so far to play volleyball?

I like the idea!
Glenelg seemed a bit past their prime/rebuiding, so in that regard, we could have scheduled a team of similar talent in Montgomery County, but, year over year, who's to know. I like the idea of playing some of the teams we would otherwise never get to play.
Centennial, Reservoir & River Hill would all be top flight teams from other Classes that would be very interesting to play and each is closer than Poolesville.

When we dropped Holton Arms last year it was with the intention of adding either a top Virginia school or a top Howard County school. Unfortunately the VA idea simply wasn't going to work out (long story).
So we turned to Howard County and contacted three schools: Centennial, River Hill and Glenelg. All three schools have been among the top teams in Howard County the last few years.
Centennial was eager to play, but their head coach had already filled his one open slot on their schedule so it simply didn't work out.
River Hill never responded to multiple emails and we assumed that meant they had no interest or availability to play.
Glenelg was very interested and invited us to play at Glenelg. So we agreed to travel to their school and play. I can't speak for our players, but our coaching staff enjoyed playing a different school in a different environment. Glenelg's coaching staff and players were very welcoming and gracious hosts. We appreciated being able to play them.
And for the record, Glenelg isn't that far from Magruder and is a very relaxing drive.
