Another busy week of tough matchups in MCPS. Here are some of the big games:
October 15th North Hagerstown at Magruder---Magruder takes on perennial state power North Hagerstown. Quince ORchard at RM----two solid teams having good seasons compete
October 17th Churchill at WJ: WJ suffering through some injuries, but still a tough team against a resurgent Churchill team Northwest at Wootton: This game has major implications for both schools. Wootton is undefeated in regular season. Northwest has 1 loss. Perhaps Northwest's first major test of the season as well.

The king is not dead. NW smoked Wootton in the first set, 25-8, in which Wootton could do nothing right and NW clinically executed their offense every time Wootton gave them a free ball. The second set was much more competitive, with Wootton making some subs, cleaning up their game, and pulling out a close one. The remaining two sets were close also, with NW just being a little better at critical times. NW’s pin hitters were more more consistent than Wootton’s, but they generated very little offense from the middle.
Another meeting in the playoffs would be interesting.

Which we saw more of these here.

She deserves every state title the team has won. After losing two key stars to graduation, she manages to position the team for success this year. She has a game plan with her key lineup at the start of every set. Her rotation is very consistent, which allows her players to know exactly what to expect and be as focused as they can be. Consistency is so key in high school volleyball, knowing who is next to you and the communication you've built over the course of the season or couple of years. NW knows what they have to do to succeed.
