Churchill posted their 5th straight winning season in 2016, going 20-2, winning the 4A West Section I title before falling to Northwest in the regional final (for the 3rd straight year). Churchill returns two time all-county libero Michelle Tai along with a slew of talented other players.
Churchill will again play in the 4A West state classification and host "The Battle of Bethesda". Coach Hillard returns with a veteran squad.
Key questions for Churchill are Can Churchill remain among the top schools in MCPS? Can they defend their sectional title and be a team that threatens Northwest in the 4A?
Please post any pre-season information, scrimmage results, regular season information or highlight any key players from Churchill here.

Churchill played with skill and a lot of heart to beat a big and powerful Magruder team last night. Magruder has four powerful 6 footers who can hit anywhere they want. Typical of Churchill they defended well. Magruder took the first two and then Churchill took the next three. I am glad I went. Great play and great match. I think Magruder could win their states. Churchill will win a lot of matches but it will be hard to win the big ones. Although this was pretty big. I hope they both do well over the season.

Chirchill is a better team today. More experienced team with better passing, defense and smoother play. Many Colonels are young and playing new positions. Their team has improved greatly in the last month.

Churchill lost to NW in 3 tonight. And although the first 2/3s of set 1 was completely NW, for the rest of the match Churchill was in it. It was close sometimes and sometimes not with Churchill doing what they do well, playing defense. But as expected the NW big hitters, Jenaysa and Janiece, were just too much. But it was a good match with good defense and serving on both sides. Both libero's and each teams DSs were getting under everything. Fun to watch.

Only the 2nd set was close between Northwest and Churchill. Northwest won the others with ease.

Oh I agree NW ruled the match. I just meant to say both teams played hard and it was fun to watch.
