Magruder posted their 18th straight winning season in 2016, finishing 18-4 and won the 3A South sectional for the 2nd straight year.
Magruder will host the 20th Annual MHS Invitational, one of the longest running tournaments in Maryland. Magruder will remain in the 3A state classification, but now compete in the North division, which includes powerhouse North Hagerstown.
Can Magruder post a 19th straight winning season and move beyond the state final 8 (regional finals)?
Please post any pre-season information, scrimmage results, regular season information or highlight any key players from Magruder here.

Thanks. I didn't take notes but here's my sense.... Magruder seemed to be dominating play but some careless errors kept Sherwood w/in a few points all through the set. In the end, when you let a team hang around, things happened and Sherwood pulled out the set 1 win, maybe 25-23/26-24(?) Set 2 was close for most of the set. Magruder's strong serving kept them in the set but they continued to struggle a bit on defense. A late defensive personnel change seemed to raise that level of play and Magruder pulled away at the end. Sets 3 and 4 just seemed to get away from Sherwood quickly. I've not seen them play other than this match but from what I know about their players, the trouble they had in serve receive should not be typical. A late rally in set 4, where Sherwood got back to playing with energy and enthusiasm, got them respectably close but Magruder outplayed them in both those sets.
