Wootton posted their 5th straight winning season (77-28 over that time) in 2016. With an overall record of 17-4 and a regular season record of 12-2 Wootton was among the stronger 4A schools and advanced to the 4A West Sectional Finals. Coach Malinauskas returns to the bench as one of the more experienced coaches on the team. Also returning is 1st team All-County selection Eleni Panagopoulos and Honorable Mention selection Elixabeth Hsieh.
Wootton is again in the always tough 4A West region and will play in the Churchill tournament. The key questions for Wootton is can they challenge for a 4A West title? Who are the players that can help bolster the team against some of the best competition they will face? What are key matches for them this year?
Please post any pre-season information, scrimmage results, regular season information or highlight any key players from Wootton here.

Wootton play has been erratic during scrimmages. They have so many good players but need more consistency.

Great effort by Wootton last night against NW. Wootton jumped out to 13-5 lead in first, but NW came back to win 25-20. NW was up 11-8 in the second when Janiece Jefferies went out with an injury. Wootton went on to win that one 25-22 as well as the third by the same score. Wootton jumped out to a 16-12 lead in the fourth, but NW came back to win 25-23. NW led throughout the fifth and won 15-10. The match was very well played - Eleni and Jenaisya each had a ton of kills and the defense was excellent on both sides. NW started blocking well in the late in the 4th and it continued in the 5th and that seemed to be the difference (however small).

I'm surprised at the big momentum swings in the first 2 games. Did Janiece return after getting injured? I sure hope her injury isn't serious. Would hate to see her miss the remainder of the playoffs, especially after the 4 year run she's had.
