In 2015 Walter Johnson posted an overall record of 7-12 and their 3rd straight 6-8 regular season record. Tom Tepper returns for his 2nd season at the helm and the program has had an influx of club players. Can the Wildcats break out with their first winning season since their state finalist team in 2012? Who are the key players that can lead WJ to a successful year?
Walter Johnson will play the same schedule which includes participating in the Churchill tournament. Walter Johnson participated in the Poolesville scrimmage tournament last Saturday.

First let me give the view that I am a Bulldog parent. And while I am really happy with the 3-2 win for Churchill over WJ tonight, I have to give huge praise to the whole WJ team. WJ won the first two by 3 or 4 each. I am not exactly sure of the score but it was something like that. But the wins came from the absolute focus of their setter, Jessica Lee. Hers is the only name I know on the WJ team. But it is a name to remember. She played great defense and set beautifully. But all the rest of the WJ girls played great too. They dug every hard driven ball that was hit at them. And they hit smart and hard. I expect they will have a strong end to the season.
The Bulldogs came back, started to focus themselves, and won the 3rd by 8 or 9, but then won the 4th by only 30-28. It was a nail biter! The 5th set was won by the Bulldogs 15-13, after the Bulldogs were down 1-6, and then 8-11. So as a Bulldog parent I am really proud of how the Bulldogs fought back.
Overall in the match, The Bulldogs did not play very well as compared to how they have played before, but I think that was also because their opponent WJ played super. I know I am a CHS parent, but I like to give praise to those who deserve it, and WJ should be pretty proud tonight. WJ played well. So did CHS in the end, but WJ showed they have some strength!
