As previously mentioned, the MCPS coaches will be (for the first time) picking all-county teams. With the demise of the Gazette, there are no more local media outlets that select an all-county team. The coaches have decided the all-county awards are an important program that needs to continue and will meet on December 1st to select teams as follows:
1 Player of the Year 8 1st team selections: the team will include at least 1 setter, libero, middle hitter and outside hitter. 8 2nd team selections: the team will include at least 1 setter, libero, middle hitter and outside hitter. 16 Honorable Mention selections
We are still working out some awards information but we hope to: 1. Announce the Player of the Year and players awarded all-county on this site. 2. Have all players honored listed on the County Sports Zone website. 3. Provide certificates for the Player of the Year and 1st team selections with possibly the 2nd and Honorable Mention 4. Possibly have the teams listed in other media outlets (Post, Bethesda Magazine, Olney News, etc....)
This is new so bear with us. Going to be a learning year for all of us, but we've got some great kids in the county and feel it's important to try and honor their success. Coach Zanni

Good news!!! Each player who was named to the All-County team will be receiving a certificate to commemorate their selection.
Rockville Head Coach Stacey Krebs has take the time to create certificates for each of the 33 players selected. The certificates will be signed by the MCPS Sports Director and the Head Coach of the school the player attends.
These are being sent to local schools this week and should arrive some time next week.

It is great that our outstanding student athletes can be recognized countywide. Many thanks to Coach Zanni for providing this platform and coordinating with county school coaches to make this happen. Congratulations to girls in this list.
I do want to honor a special group of our student athletes who may or may not be in this list:
In MoCo high school teams, there are many talented girls playing club volleyball. Some girls did not have the luxury to play the same position as they played and are trained in their club teams when they play in their high school teams due to the school teams' needs. For example, we have club OH players playing setter position and Liberos playing OH or Setter positions, etc. These kids deserve to be honored for their exceptional multi-talented athletic capabilities, and above all, willingness to make personal sacrifice for the success of their school teams.
I know some schools are making extra effort to recognize these athletes. It is very hard to offer them the recognition at the county level in a fair and scientific way. Nonetheless, these players demonstrated the true sportsmanship and deserve our additional respect.
