Churchill took out Wooton 3-0 tonight. Alan, Charles, and Edmond all played very well. Congrats to the boys.

Didn't expect to see Wootton get swept in 3! They are VERY well-coached and always have a stellar team. Any follow-up on the game? Scores? Congrats to Churchill!

Edmond is another true baller, especially after the churchill-wootton game.

I heard Wootton was playing pretty off today. We will have to see during play offs. Things are getting pretty competitive.

Weiling Tan and Bradley Soll. I wouldn't say Wootton played "pretty off", I'd say they were just manhandled by the dominant Bulldogs.

yes, wootton was playing off and churchill absolutely played well. the game was already lost however in set 3, the scorers missed giving two points to the board that were for wootton (point 17 & 18). all the parents noticed this....but the game went on without those points.
it wouldnt be wise for any team to flaunt over confidence at this point. be proud of an accomplishment, but be a good sportsman.

Both coaches which were Coach Erika for Churchill and Coach John for Wootton were pushing their players to do more. You could tell they were plotting and thinking as play went on. They are both great coaches. The teams both played well. But last night Churchill was just stronger in almost every way. But It is still early in the season with 5 matches complete and 6 more to go before playoffs. But from reading this blog I think Churchill needs to go on the list of strong contenders. But never count Wootton out. In terms of players to watch Wootton's opposite looked really really good. He was hitting strong from the front row and back row. Churchill's tall outside looked pretty much unstoppable. Both of Churchill's setters set, played defense and hit strong. It is good to see balance with two setters and ones who can do it all. And then their middles looked young but really good. The first play of the match was a big middle hit by Wootton. If they can get that going more they will do even better.

Sherwood, Wheaton and Churchill are 5-0. I just checked and they don't play each other in the remaining regular season matches. Too bad.

Clarksburg, RM, and Wootton have all suffered from early defeats, but I expect them to bounce right back once they become healthy and start playing comfortable with their new teammates. Sherwood Wheaton and Churchill are looking solid at 5-0. Does anyone know about the four win teams? Gaithersburg is 4-1, with their only loss against in clarksburg in 5. WJ, Blair, and Magruder also have 4 wins. Wondering if any of them could potentially pull off an upset

Gaithersburg has at least 5 experienced players on their team. They have all played with each other for the past few years and have great chemistry. They also all played for MVP this year.
Blair has at least two solid, all-around players and are well-coached, so I think they can make a run this year. Not sure after getting swept by RM though.
Magruder has benefitted from a rather easy schedule so far, but were a strong force last year and with their returning setter and great coaching, I think they will be able to make a run as well. They play Sherwood tomorrow and I'm interested to see how that plays out.

I think Blair has benefitted from an easy schedule. The teams they've beaten have a combined record of 2-16, and they got swept by RM. I don't know if we should be putting them in the conversation just yet. They play Wootton tonight, which could serve as a measuring stick of how good they actually are.

great on court communication: this is something I have seen from sherwood, churchill and wheaton this season that some of the other skilled teams lack
