So someone already asked this and it sparked some curiosity. We all know who the best teams are: Wootton, Sherwood, Blair, Richard Montgomery, etc. They play a whole different level of volleyball compared to typical high school volleyball, which is very respectable on that note.
But which teams do you think are best that aren't carried by club players? Springbrook, Clarksburg, and Watkins Mill are definitely up there. Quincy Orchard too maybe? Possibly Magruder?

Springbrook hands down...

Springbrook does have someone from club leading their team though, I believe. Eric Schweiger, albeit new to club volleyball, still falls under that category.

Every team has at least one club player, i mean there is no way a team to be able to compete for a top spot in mcps without that key club player for example springbrook has 1 middle club player wj has 4 club players Churchhill the whole team pratically is all club note: churchill has one of the worst record barlly making top 16
so club players dont mean nuts
it is just a key player to the team just like ovy for caps or pat manning for colts its the star player

Having club players doesnt amount to much.
When I was at Rockville, our starting 6 were all starters for MVP 16s - 18s. We never gelled as a team and ended up losing in Rd 2 of the playoffs to a team that had one non-MVP club guy who didnt even start.
The best team is exactly that, the best TEAM. Not which team has the most club players.

Not which team has the most club players. Doesn't amount to much? Wow. You are wrong my friend. Look who made the second round of the playoffs! Two teams that were almost completely club players. I doubt there were any teams in the second round that year or in any recent years without a single club player. The experience you gain playing club at an elevated level can't be matched in the 2 month high school season. There isn't a team at the bottom of their division that wouldn't gladly take a club player on their roster. Churchill this year is a very odd occurance but they still have a shot to make the playoffs. Out of curiousity, what is it in your opinion that does make a difference? Coaching obviously but every team that has won the county championships since its inception has had club players on it to my knowledge.

The only reason the county winners has a club player is because they actually enjoy the sport and want to play even more that is why they are better anyone they have passion for the game.

They also get professional training as well as more productive time to practice, rather than those who are coached by only high school coaches, who sometimes tend to be coaches not because they're best for it, because there was no other person for the job.
Also, club volleyball membership doesn't come cheap, so not everyone has the opportunity, even if they have the passion and desire to learn and practice more.
And sorry about the typo, I meant Quince Orchard*

It is true that club players receive a wealth of better instruction and experience in the sport than do just high school players.
However, in my opinion, what I've seen that makes the difference is based on two things, that is the number of club players on a team and the leadership of those club players.
When a team is filled with talented club players who enjoy playing and competing, as long as they mesh I believe the team will do well (with or without a court leader). Eventually, I believe that someone will end up stepping up and becoming the leader.
On a team that is less experienced and has fewer club players, I believe that their success is directly related to the efficacy of the leadership by the club players on that team. As long as they are stepping in and sharing their knowledge and urging their teammates to get better without offending them, then I believe that team will (at least have a chance to) become more successful.
At the same time though, the club players have to watch their footing and know when enough is enough or when they're overstepping their boundaries.
That's just my take on it.
