Mr. Zanni,
The questions are for high school vb rules. Can a libero be sub out at one position and sub back in another position without sitting out a play?
What about sreving? If the libero is sub'ing for two positions, can he/she serve at both?

I'll try and answer as best I can.
Liberos are not "subbed" out, they replace or are replaced. So they don't count towards a teams official substitutions.
Once removed from the game, the libero must sit out one point and then can re enter the very next point for any other current backrow player. The only exception I can think of is related to serving. A libero (in high school) may only serve once/rotation. So a libero can't serve for two positions.
The rules for a coed libero are likely a little different in some way, but frankly I don't know what those are off the top of my head.
Haven't seen many liberos in use during the boys season so far.

coach zanni
can the libero contact the ball between the 10ft line and the net?
one of the refs said the libero could not touch the ball within the 10ft area. if the libero covered a block this ref awarded a point and service to the opposing team since "the libero played a ball within the 10ft zone"
is this one of the differences between high school rules and usav/fivb?
thanks

I would also like confirmation on this. There was a play in which the libero set the ball in front of the 10ft line and was called for it.
I always thought the rule was that the libero may not attack the ball from above the height of the net, and if they set the ball from in front of the 10 ft line the ball may not be attacked from above the height of the net.

a libero may not set a ball in front of the 10 foot line, but they may bump the ball.

a libero may not set a ball in front of the 10 foot line, but they may bump the ball. Is this the high school rule? If so, this is different than the USAV rule.

I believe that gguest is correct - a libero may never attack the ball above the height of the net, but the libero may play the ball (set it, pass it, send it over the net below the height of the net) from anywhere on the court. If the libero hand sets the ball in front of the 10 foot line, no other player may attack it above the height of the net. The coach could have protested the call previously mentioned. Or the coach could have chosen to ignore the wrong call and keep playing the game. Sounds like that's what happened.
I do think that in coed, you are not allowed to have all 3 guys in front of the 10 foot line at any time, but it is something that may happen and nobody notices because the play is too quick (for example, 2 guys go up to block, the ball tips over them and the 3rd guy covers it). But this is irrelevent in regular boys volleyball. Also, in coed, the libero rules are the same except the libero can only replace someone of the same gender as themself in the back row.
