Hard to believe, but we need to start planning for the 2009 Volleyball Banquet. It's a tradition of the program that we celebrate both seasons with a banquet honoring the girls of the JV and Varsity teams.
Here is how it works: We usually ask parents/coaches to find a few locations that can host a banquet on a tuesday-friday night. Traditionally the site must be able to host at least 100 people, provide the food and a microphone system/projector. We also need a cost for the site (usually it is priced per person). However, I'm also open to renting a site and having it catered OR having it catered at MHS (cafeteria).
Once we have a few options we let the members of the JV and Varsity teams vote with the understanding if the vote is close the varsity team preference will win out. If the varsity team vote is close, the seniors vote breaks the tie.
I'd prefer to use this site to communicate information about the banquet as all parents and players should have easy access to reading the information.
So moving forward, can we try and get estimates from a few sites around the Montgomery County area. Last year we were at That's Amore, but we certainly don't have to go back.
Please post any information you find out there. I'm going to look at a few places as well. Coach Z

Because the state finals are scheduled for 11-21-2009 and the following week is Thanksgiving, I would suggest that we look for a date during the week of November 29,2009. The dates of Tuesday through Friday of that week are 12-1 through 12-4. We might want to check when club tryouts are so we can avoid any conflict with those events. If those "in the know" could list the dates of tryouts on this site, we can plan accordingly.
I will be happy to check dates and price for the Golden Bull. We had the softball banquet there last year and found it to be a good choice.

Checking on That's Amore where we had it last year. Trying to think of other sites. I guess we could check some of the hotels in the area (Hilton, Holiday Inn, etc.). Anyone want to take a stab at a few other places around here?
Another lower cost option is to have it at Magruder (cafeteria) and have it catered. Downside is we have to do all the setup/cleanup.

Any update on Golden Bull?
That's Amore is $22/person.
Need to make a decision ASAP.

Pat Chapin had looked into the Brookeville Inn last year (she knows the owner) - they had offered a $26 dollar menu. That's a really nice place - should we ask her to see if that would be and option for us this year?

Sounds good to me. I'm also looking into Dave and Buster's. Decision time is next week.

I will get info on Golden Bull on Monday. I have to go up there to pick up the menu because they do not publish their youth sports banquet menu on line. (My car has been in the shop since October 8, 2009.) I believe the price we paid for the softball banquet was $22.00 per person which included a beef carving station. As soon as I get the info and available dates I will post it here. Sorry for the delay.

I have the Golden Bull information. They have a buffet for 22.00 (choice of 2 menus) or a sit down dinner for 20.00. They are available for Thursday December 3, 2009.
