I'm interested to see Northwest get tested by Whitman (or RM) in the 2nd round. Whitman seems to be on a roll and NW didn't exactly play the toughest schedule (wins over Wootton and CBurg). CBurg Wheaton rematch in 2nd round is nice. Not sure what happened in their last game where CBurg beat Wheaton 3-0. Didn't expect that result.

Clarksburg lost Nathan Goh #15 to injury during the Northwest match early in the season, and ended up losing that one in 4 games. He was out for 4 weeks with a grade three ankle sprain. I was at the Wheaton match, which I think was when he just started getting his legs back. All three games against Wheaton were close, but it looked like the Clarksburg boys were energized from playing at home on Senior night, and on top of that Wheaton simply had no answer for #15 at full strength. I watched Clarksburg vs Poolesville and it looks like they are starting to take their game to a higher level as we go into playoffs. We'll see if they can sustain the momentum against Wheaton in round 2.

Hopefully clarksburg does not come in to confident because Wheaton will probably come back hungry to win

I think Northwest’s lack of experience versus high level teams will show

WJ has played a tougher schedule. Beating Churchill twice was no easy task. NW beating Clarksburg twice was also impressive but let's not confuse Churchill and Clarksburg. If Northwest can play mistake free and minimize errors they will have a shot. WJ rarely blows past teams but seems to let most teams hang around if they are willing to battle (Wheaton took them to 5). Northwest is used to being able to dominate their opponent but must take the underdog role even though they are the 1 seed. WJ has been here before and could come out over confident. NW should have a shot to steal the first set then anything can happen.

If there is one thing Northwest can do it is use their middles and exploit WJ’s poor blocking in the middle which worked mostly for Churchill and Wheaton

In the semifinal game WJ couldn’t stop Churchill’s middles which got them the 2 set lead. Interested to see how NW will handle themselves when it comes to defending the pins though.

Nobody has been able to withstand the reigning POTY so I would be shocked if NW is the team that can pull it off.
