As a former moco player I can assure you the competition in volleyball has grown. Today I witnfessed a very interesting and entertaining game of volleyball. Today the Churchill Bulldogs took on the Clarksburg( I forget the Mascot ) played a very good game where both sides had there ups and downs. Churchill definitely has several seasonal players that play all year long that outnumbered the amount of all year seasonal players on Clarksburg. Despite loosing the first set Clarksburg showed great fight to keep the bulldogs on their toes and almost taking a set from them. Both teams had their ups and downs but from what I observed these two teams are not to be taken lightly. I wouldn't be surprised if one of these two show up in the finals. Churchill has a wonderful setter as well as a very strong outside hitter who can hit line and cross at any given set. Clarksburg's receiving let them down but if they can get fix a few small mistakes. I also witnessed the game on Monday Walter Johnson ( cant remember the mascot) vs. Wheaton Knights, Again Walter Johnson seemingly have numerous all year seasonal players which outnumbered the amount the Knights had. Walter Johnson being the undefeated and returning champions are a team that have a lot of experience but have ups and downs. Having said that Wheaton fought hard the first two sets keeping Walter Johnson on their toes at all times.

Wheaton defeated Clarksburg 3-0. Clarksburg's serve receive was a noticeable weakness all three games. Wheaton's defense was solid and their serve receive was almost flawless. Clarksburg's setters were called for doubles at least 6-7 times, and they had several line calls go against them. Clarksburg's hitters were technically better, but Wheaton's spikers and insides were more effective.

with playoffs starting this coming Tuesday these are my predictions
Northwest v Wheaton --- Winner: Northwest
Watkins Mill V Churchill --- Winner: Churchill
Magruder v Walter Johnson --- Winner: Walter Johnson
Wooton v Clarksburg --- Winner: Clarksburg
I would be very surprised if Watkins Mill can pull off an upset considering there improvement this is year has been mind boggling. With Payton coming back Northwest will be a tough for Wheaton to beat. Magruder has had their ups and down but I dont see them beating the undefeated Walter Johnson. I wouldnt be surprised if Wooton beats Clarksburg considering thier 3-0 losses to Wheaton and Churchill and lets not forget the upsets Wooton caused last year.

Northwest defeated Wheaton 3-0. The first two were pretty competitive at 20, and 22, but the last set was 16. Northwest was clearly the better team, with more skilled players, steady setters and dynamic hitting all around. They kept the pressure on Wheaton's defense, and served hard topspins all 3 sets, keeping Wheaton from running their offense. #2, #7, #14 were the big guns for Northwest all match last. The Northwest-Churchill game ought to be pretty exciting with too well coached teams with balanced offenses.
