County Sports Zone is technically accurate that Kennedy is 5-7, however for seeding purposes Kennedy is 4-7. Here's the short version of why.... MCPS allows each team to play 11 regular season matches. However, with an odd number of teams (25 high schools) there is no mathematically way for all 25 schools to each play 11 contests (odd number of teams and odd number of matches comes out an odd number). So to get all schools 11 matches one school must play a 12th match. The team that plays the 12th match doesn't have it count towards their seeding record and that match is labeled in July when the master schedule is created. This year (and next) it's the Kennedy vs. Springbrook match. It's Kennedy's 12th match (even though it doesn't take place at the end of the year) and Springbrook's 11th match. So the match counts for Springbrook, but not Kennedy. Basically it's a scheduling anomaly.

I believe it was set record. Blair came out on top with a set record of 23-12 (0.657), followed by Walter Johnson 24-13 (0.649), then Clarksburg 23-13 (0.639), Magruder 22-15 (0.595), and finally Northwest 22-21 (0.512). I got all this data from county sports zone, so assuming its correct, this is how the tiebreaker worked out.

WJ and Clarksburg looks like a high level first-round matchup. Are there any others to look out for?

Northwood (#13 seed) is a real sleeper. They had a difficult schedule and are very scrappy. I predict they will go all the way

They reported WJ winning in 4, though I've only heard from one of the coaches. Sherwood and QO also win 3-0. Haven't heard from Wootton/Poolesville.
